Your night begins at the base of Abisko’s Mt. Noulja. Upon arrival at the chair lift you will be outfitted with high quality Arctic gear including a pair of warm overalls and boots. After dressing you will enjoy a ride in Sweden’s longest chair lift to the Aurora Sky Station. As you slowly climb the mountain in silence, the darkness and the beauty of Abisko National Park will begin to awaken your senses. As your eyes adjust to the darkness of the area you will see more stars than you ever thought possible. It is not uncommon to see your first aurora on the way up the mountain.
At some point during your visit you will be taken to the Aurora Sky Station’s aurora exhibition where one of the friendly and educated staff will teach you everything you ever wanted to know about the northern lights. After the informative lecture in the aurora exhibition you will be led outside and your professionally trained guide will help you discover the best way to see the aurora borealis. After the tour is over you will have approximately three and a half hours to spend on the side of Mt. Noulja searching for the auroras. This fantastic activity is sure to be a highlight of your trip!
In the unlikely event that the Aurora Sky Station is closed due to extreme weather, you will be provided with an alternate activity in the Aurora Lounge at Hotel STF Abisko.
