Hike to Stornabben for large groups
Are you looking for a special hiking experience in Abisko for a large group? Look no further – Lights Over Lapland has got you covered!
As the travel industry emerged from COVID-19 pandemic, there has been a surge of interest from tour operators and companies that operate large scale coach tours who want to offer high quality adventures to larger groups. Lights Over Lapland has listened to our partner’s requests and we are proud to announce that we have developed a hiking adventure that is perfectly designed for large groups of up to 24 people. This new adventure includes up to two guides and embodies all of Lights Over Lapland’s best practices while delivering a very high level of quality – all while accommodating a much larger maximum group size.
During this spectacular adventure, your guide will lead you to one of the most scenic overlooks in the area: Stornabben. Stornabben means “big hill” when directly translated to English. The hike gets you up above the trees and gives your group an opportunity to see panoramic views in every direction! This incredible vantage point offers spectacular panoramic views of Abisko National Park, Lake Tornetrask, and the world famous Lapporten. You will also have a chance to see lots of other soaring mountain peaks and on a clear day you can see all the way into Norway! All of our guides are highly trained and will share their deep pool of knowledge about tracks left behind by our local wildlife, local indigenous people of the region and what it is like to live in the Arctic.
While it is not guaranteed, you may have a chance to see beautiful animals during this trip such as reindeer, mountain hare, foxes, a full range of birds and the ever-majestic Scandinavian moose if luck is on your side! Be sure to bring a camera as this trip gives lots of spectacular views into Abisko National Park and beyong! Book your incredibly scenic hike with the best guides in Abisko today.
This hike is a loop and will be led at a very relaxed pace and usually takes between two and three hours to complete. Most of the trip happens on well-trodden ground but there is a steady incline for the first kilometer of the adventure. It is also likely that there will be loose/drifted snow during the hike. Please let us know if you have any physical limitations that would make it difficult for you to walk up a steady incline for the first kilometer of the trip. Please note that our guide staff reserves the right to exclude a member of your group if they do not think that the guest is physically able to complete the circuit. The minimum age limit of guests joining our tour is a minimum of 10 years old, due to the length and amount of time you will be out hiking.
