My journey began far from the pristine wilderness of Abisko, in a small German town amongst lush forests that provided my siblings, friends, and me with the best imaginable playground. My fascination with nature matured into a pastime activity that, like nothing else, calms me down and clears my mind of the unimportant and negative.
Despite my pretty hometown, I soon felt the urge to reach out further. Working as a mechatronic engineer turned software developer, I have seen many places but never really got to explore and embrace them. So I quit, went away, made lots of memories and friends, and at some point found myself staring up in disbelief during a warm Tasmanian summer night. The aurora australis gently waved its colorful curtains above me.
That night, a strange mix of wonder, shock, excitement, and humility took hold of me. “Nature is such a show-off”, I thought and started laughing with joy.
Ever since, I have been chasing the lights wherever possible—from Lapland to Türkiye, from an airplane window over the Atlantic to the mountains of New Zealand. The aurora ticks many of my boxes: science, landscape and astrophotography, atmospheric phenomena, and last but not least, bringing people together.
Fast forward a few years, and I made it my mission to take adventurers like yourselves with me to experience the humbling forces of the universe together. We will spend our time celebrating life and capturing this uniquely beautiful place with our minds and cameras. And if we get it right, you’ll take home your very own tale of how you met the strange lights from above.
Curiosity teaches me, sparks passions within me, and takes me to the farthest reaches of the Earth. Now, it took me to yet another wonderful place: Abisko! I guess you could say curiosity didn’t just kill the cat; it packed my bags and moved me north. Let yours take you on a trip to the Arctic, too! See you around.
