Gavin Hewitt
My happy place has always been the snow, we just don’t get much of it in the UK. So I have had to go further afield to get my fix of snow and the cold. From working as a Ice climbing and glacier guide in New Zealand to skiing in alps.

When in the UK I can be found rock climbing and paddle boarding the sea and rivers.
As a photographer my main area is studio portraits and live events with performers and dancers. In summer I photograph flyball events and take dog portraits. I have volunteered as an admin for a very busy international photography group supporting and teaching people for many years.
I saw an advert for a guide job for lights over Lapland about 7 years ago and thought that it sounded like my ideal job but my life was not in the right place for me to apply.
However last season I got the chance to visit Abisko and fell in love with the place. I am looking forward to sharing my skills and knowledge with guests to enable them to get the best out of their time with Lights over Lapland.
