The trail is approximately 15 KM in length and heads north towards the Rautas river valley, offering breathtaking views and a serene atmosphere. Midway through the tour, we’ll take a break at a traditional Sami tent where you can warm up by the fire with a cup of coffee or tea and enjoy a traditional Swedish fika. On clear days, you might even catch a glimpse of Sweden’s highest peak, Kebnekaise. There will be plenty of opportunities to take photos and play with our huskies, capturing memories that are sure to last a lifetime.
After the thrilling ride, your guide will offer you a tasty lunch in a cozy teepee. In combination with the lunch you will have approximately 30-45 min of free time to cuddle with the dogs, savor a lovely meal, reflecting on the beauty of the landscapes you’ve just traversed. The tour lasts approximately 3 hours, and once it concludes, you will head off back towards Abisko, ensuring a seamless and memorable adventure from start to finish. - This activity takes place nearby Luossavaara, near Kiruna. Round trip transportation from Abisko & Björkliden is included.
- You will share a sled with other people. We allow up to 4 people per sled.
- The time on the sled is approximately 2 x 20-40 minutes but can be slightly shorter or longer depending on weather conditions.
- Minimum age allowed for this activity is 5 years old.
- Round trip transportation from your hotel in Abisko or Björkliden to the dogsledding camp near Kiruna.
- Warm overalls, winter boots, hats and gloves.
- Tasty lunch – vegetarian option available upon request. Must be requested ahead of time!
- Warm drink and home made fika (sweet treat).

We pick you up from any hotel in Abisko or Björkliden.
PICK UP INFORMATION
If you are staying in Abisko, please be ready for pick up at your hotel from 9:15 AM.
If you are staying in Björkliden the pickup time is 9:00 AM.
RETURN TIMES
Departing from Sleddog Kiruna 2:30 PM.
All guests returned to their hotels by 4:00 PM.

Can you drop me off at the airport in Kiruna or in Kiruna City after the tour?
Unfortunately we are not able to take you to Kiruna after the tour as the bus will not pass through Kiruna on the way back to Abisko. However, the kennel may be able to arrange a transfer separately, so please make sure to include this request in your booking under “Special Requirements” and we will do our best to help arrange transportation for you. We can also help you book a taxi from the kennel to Kiruna C/ Airport or Icehotel if needed.
Kindly note that luggage space is limited. If you’re travelling in a larger group and each person has more than one bag, we may not be able to accommodate the kiruna drop-off as this depends on the total amount of luggage for the group. This day tour is designed for guests staying in Abisko, and unfortunately, we do not offer pick-up in Kiruna. However, the kennel offers other tours designed for people staying in Kiruna that can be booked directly with them here: https://www.sleddog.se/
What is the difference between this tour and the Dog sledding excursion to Kiruna?
This tour is longer so you get to spend more time with the dogs and riding the sleds. It also includes lunch, where the other tour only includes a small snack.
