Fantastic Morning Hike in Abisko
We took the morning hike this fall in Abisko and had a fantastic time! It’s a great family-friendly tour that serves as the perfect introduction to Abisko National Park and the surrounding area. Our guide was also very knowledgeable about the local wildlife – the children especially enjoyed identifying different animal tracks in the snow. For more experienced hikers and those wanting to explore on their own, the tour provides a great orientation, and the tour guide is an excellent source of in-depth knowledge for the many trails available. Highly recommended!

Guided hike in Abisko National Park
Our family, six in all, went on the (hike)? Our ages ranged from 9 to 70+ years.
Our guide, Chris, arrived well prepared with trekking poles and shoe/boot grips for each participant after an unexpected early snowfall the days before. Each one of us thoroughly enjoyed the experience.
He was very knowledgable about the flora, fauna, geology and history of the region. Always inviting questions, he was very courteous and respectful to each one of us.
Lights Over Lapland with Chris as our guide gave that little extra that made our experience very special, and memorable.

Can my child ride in a sled behind me for the Hike?

The minimum age for this activity is 7 years old, and all participants must be able to walk independently. For safety reasons, we cannot accept children under the age of 7 or those who need to be carried or assisted while walking. The terrain and conditions may be slippery, uneven, or snowy, and it’s important that everyone is able to move safely on their own throughout the tour.

Can I bring a dog on the Morning Hike?

While we absolutely love dogs, they are not allowed to join our group hikes. This policy helps ensure a comfortable and enjoyable experience for all guests. Dogs are allowed in Abisko National Park as long as they’re kept on a leash, but since we can’t take responsibility for pets during group tours, they’re not permitted on our regular hikes.

However, if you’re staying at STF Abisko Turiststation and book a Private Morning Hike (without transportation), you’re very welcome to bring your dog along!

Do you offer pick-up from Kiruna?

Due to the long distance (almost 100KM), we do not offer pick-up in Kiruna. If you wish to join the hike, we highly recommend you book your stay in Abisko.

I’m driving from Narvik or Kiruna. Where should I meet the group?

If you are driving, the best place to meet is by the main door of the STF Abisko Turiststation. Please park by Naturum, in the larger parking area. Additional parking is available across the road, by the train station. The hotel address is: STF Abisko Turiststation, 981 07 Abisko. Your guide will meet you there at 9:30am.

Please make sure you leave with plenty of time to spare as the group will not be able to wait if you are delayed. It’s also worth noting that the road between Narvik and Abisko might close in extreme weather. A refund is not possible if you miss the tour.
