Already for a very long time, seeing the Northern Lights had been my number one bucket list goal. However, as a student I needed to save up a bit more to travel north, so I waited.

I always had the spirit of adventure in me, and I knew that Belgium was not my only home. At some point in my life, I would leave it and start working abroad. But life guided me, and I followed. I started working in Belgium.
After one year of working, winter was coming, and I thought: Why not travel north to finally see the Aurora? Just do it! So I booked my flights and went to Kiruna to see the Northern Lights. However, after spending a week there, I didn’t see them. Defeated, I headed back home… but the disappointment didn’t last for long. I needed to see them!
So, I followed an online course to learn as much as possible about the Northern Lights to optimize my chances, 10 months later, I booked a flight to Abisko this time. And it’s safe to say: I succeeded!
I saw the magnificent Northern Lights!
And while I was watching them, I thought: “That must be a cool job — being a Northern Lights tour guide.” You get to see the aurora a lot and share this amazing phenomenon with so many people! So when I came back home, I sent an email to Lights over Lapland, asking if they were looking for an extra guide. And to my surprise, they answered!
And here I am, half a year later, a new guide at Lights over Lapland, full of excitement to start this adventurous journey abroad and share it with all of you!
