The Sami Camp

Would you like an opportunity to visit an authentic recreation of a Sami village? Lights Over Lapland has exclusive access to a small encampment created by local Sami people that highlights a lifestyle seldom seen by outsiders. The Sami village includes several photogenic structures including authentic Lavvus, (the Sami word for teepee) earthen homes and timber frame houses.

During your time in the camp you will have an opportunity to go inside of one of the structures where your guide will prepare a warm cup of traditional Swedish lingonberry juice over an open fire. We will tell stories about Sami life and discuss the northern lights as seen through the eyes of the local people. This adventure is sure to be one of the many highlights of your visit to Abisko!
