Wildlife Safari
Our team of professional photographers have been observing local wildlife in and around Abisko National Park for more than a decade! Use their experience to search for local wildlife including Moose, reindeer, fox, birds of prey and more!
We have the single largest group of professional guides in Abisko who all have a few things in common – they love Lapland, the northern lights and all of the fauna that reside in the area. Our large team is in constant communication with each other sharing information about what they see which allows us to gather information about wildlife locations in real time. While we cannot guarantee a successful wildlife sighting, we can say that the Lights Over Lapland crew helps stack the odds in your favour. If the conditions are right, we will head out after breakfast and choose a route based on current weather conditions and recent wildlife sightings with the goal of showing you as many examples of Arctic wildlife as possible. In most cases, we stay local in Abisko or the surrounding area and look for wildlife such as reindeer, moose, and owl and return in time for lunch.
Please note: This is not a typical wildlife safari like you might have joined in Africa. We do not stalk or chase animals during this trip, we simply use our local knowledge and go to locations where we believe it is likely to see wildlife based on information that we collect from our team of guides. Wildlife sightings in the area can vary greatly from one week to another. Your guide will have up to date information about wildlife in the area and if the likelihood of a sighting is low, we will suggest a different day trip than going on a safari if the odds of success are not in your favour. As a rule, this trip tends to have the most success in the Months of February and March. If our team of guides believe that the likelihood of success is low, we will suggest a different day trip so that you can make the most of your time in the area.
