We’re incredibly excited to share that Lights Over Lapland has once again received Tripadvisor’s Travelers’ Choice Award for 2026!
Every year, this award is given to businesses that consistently receive outstanding reviews and ratings from travelers around the world. Which means this recognition doesn’t come from a panel of judges or a marketing campaign: it comes directly from our guests.
The people who stood outside with us in the snow in the middle of the night waiting for the aurora to appear.
The people who sat around the fire in our tents sharing stories and hot drinks.
The people who trusted us with their Arctic adventure.
That’s what makes this award feel so special to us.
A Decade of Traveler Recognition
Lights Over Lapland has received the Tripadvisor Travelers’ Choice Award every year since 2015, with the exception of 2021 during the pandemic years, when we did not operate due to concerns for the safety of our guests. That is something we’re incredibly proud of as a team.
That’s over a decade of guest reviews, shared experiences, late-night aurora hunts, snowy adventures, and unforgettable moments in the Arctic.
While the northern lights are never guaranteed, our goal has always been the same: create experiences people remember long after they leave Abisko.
It’s Never Just About Seeing the Aurora
Of course, everyone comes to Abisko hoping to see the northern lights. And we do everything we can to make that happen. But over the years, we’ve realized the moments people remember most often go beyond the sky itself.
It’s the excitement of chasing clear weather down snowy roads. The quiet moments sitting beside a fire while waiting for the clouds to move. The laughter inside the vehicle after spotting moose along the roadside. The guides explaining Sami culture, camera settings, local wildlife, and space weather while everyone looks upward hoping the sky explodes green.
One guest described their experience as:
“The highest respect for this company! We were on the private 4-night Aurora Escape and loved it. The customer service from the pre-trip team to our amazing guide. It was an amazing trip.”
Honestly, that pretty much sums up the spirit of what we try to create.
Our Guides Make the Difference
We say this a lot, but the guides truly are the heart of Lights Over Lapland.
Our professional guides help guests feel comfortable during multi-day aurora adventures, keep everyone informed and excited throughout th
e evening, share photography expertise, update guests when aurora activity suddenly intensifies, and go above and beyond to make people feel at home. We know without a doubt that th
ese experiences wouldn’t be the same without them.
Again and again, guests mention not just the northern lights, but the feeling of the entire experience. The atmosphere, the adventure, and the care that goes into every tour.
One guest recently described their trip as:
“An unforgettable night out.”
Another wrote:
“We not only saw the lights but truly enjoyed every moment of the adventure.”
And one guest summed it up perfectly by saying:
“I’d do the whole thing again in a heartbeat.”
Honestly, seeing feedback like this means the world to our team.

Abisko Continues to Surprise People
For many visitors, it’s not just the aurora that leaves an impression but it’s the entire Arctic environment.
The mountains. The silence. The wildlife. The cold air that somehow feels refreshing instead of intimidating. The chance to completely disconnect from everyday life for a few days.
Guests often arrive expecting a northern lights tour and leave talking about morning hikes, spotting foxes and reindeer, exploring the Icehotel, learning about Sami culture, or simply enjoying the peacefulness of the Arctic.
One guest called dog sledding “one of my favourite experiences ever.”
Another said they were “already planning to take my kids back in a few years.”
That’s the kind of feedback that reminds us why we do this.
Thank You For Being Part Of It
Winning the Tripadvisor Travelers’ Choice Award for 2026 is something we’re extremely proud of, but more than anything, it feels like a reflection of the incredible guests who choose to travel with us every season.
Thank you to everyone who joined us under the Arctic sky, shared a review, recommended us to friends, or trusted us with such an important trip.
We genuinely appreciate it more than you know.
And to future guests reading this: we can’t wait to welcome you to Abisko.
